CM interacts with beneficiary of Mukhya Mantri Gram Kaushal Yojna

  • Directs officers to start rural development oriental scheme

 

While interacting with the beneficiaries of Mukhya Mantri Gram Kaushal Yojna through video conferencing from Shimla today Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the scheme was started on 6th January this year with a view to revive the traditional handicraft, handloom, local artifacts, wood and metal craft, besides providing gainful employment to the rural youth.

Chief Minister said that the State Government was providing Rs 7500 to the instructor and an amount of Rs. 3000 to the trainee per month. He said that the period of training has been fixed from three months to one year. He said that a maximum of five trainees would be allowed to be trained in each batch. He said that this would go a long way in revival of our traditional art, craft and culture, besides proving a major source of self-employment to the rural youth.

Jai Ram Thakur said that State Rural Development Department has started several scheme aimed at development of rural areas during the last two and a half years. He said that Mukhya Mantri Ek Bigha Yojna has been proving a big success as about 3500 families have registered themselves to avail the benefits of the Scheme. He also congratulated the department for getting first prize in e-Panchayat. 

Chief Minister said that to begin with the Mukhya Mantri Gram Kaushal Yojna has been started in 18 blocks of four districts of the State. He said that the courses which have been covered under the scheme include wood craft, Metal craft, Mandi Kalam, Stone craft, bamboo craft, embroidery, pine needle products, pottery etc. 

Jai Ram Thakur said that during the COVID-19 pandemic only the rural economy have survived, which was an indication of the fact that these areas have firm base to deal with any kind of eventuality. He said that efforts should be made to start rural development oriented schemes to benefit the youth so that they do not have to migrate from rural areas to urban areas in search of employment.

Chief Minister also released the poster and information booklet regarding this Scheme on the occasion.

Jai Ram Thakur also interacted with several beneficiaries of the Scheme.

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar said that the main aim of the State Government was to revive the rural economy of the State. He thanked the Chief Minister for evincing keen interest in the development of rural areas.
