Fashion Technology, premier Institutes
of Design, Management and Technology
have been playing a crucial role in
benchmarking performance and processes
in the areas of fashion education,
research and development, training and
consultancy. One such institute is
being set-up at Chheb in Kangra
district, thanks to the relentless
efforts made by the State Government
to get this premier institute
sanctioned for the State. The
foundation stone of this Institute, 13th
in entire India and first in Northern
India, was laid on 21st January, 2009.
This would help the youth of this hill
State to debut in the glamorous world
of fashion.
NIFT would provide an
opportunity to students and trainees
enter into international fashion arena
and bring laurels to the State.
Himachal Pradesh is rich in many
traditional woollen costumes which
could be a part of fashion technology
and the Institution would popularize
the same in the international fashion
world. The Institute would also help
in popularizing the woollen fashions
and clothes of the State, besides
apparels, jewellery and accessories
etc. In the age of extending par
excellence to all regions and areas,
vocational education is the only mode
to find assured employment to the
educated youth of the State. The high
profile fashion designing jobs await
quality professionals to take up the
global challenges in fashion
technology. NIFT centre at Chheb in
Kangra district would ensure academic
standards and excel in leadership by
providing a pool of creative genius
and technically competent
professionals. The Institute would
provide a common platform for fashion
education, research and training.
The National Institute
of Fashion Technology to be set-up
with an estimated expenditure of Rs 60
crore, aims at establishing the
benchmark for the quality of
professionals that go into the fashion
industry. The Institute would provide
comprehensive and state-of-the-art
infrastructure and equipment to impart
both practical and theoretical
training. The facilities and services
offered to the students would allow
them the freedom to experiment and
generate creative ideas. Creative
architecture and spacious buildings
would house fully equipped lecture
rooms, design studios and
laboratories, resource centres,
activity centres and hostels. The
Institute would house spacious
conference/seminar halls that serve as
perfect meeting grounds for
presentations, interaction and
discussions.
Well-equipped classrooms would be
using advanced teaching methodology,
designed for highly interactive
sessions. The success of fashion
professionals rests on their ability
to integrate Fashion and Information
Technology in a meaningful way. Thus,
the NIFT at Chheb would be having
computer labs well-equipped with
state-of-the-art hardware and
software. The NIFT campus would have
ample space to host events, allowing
students to pursue their individual
interests related to their studies and
work towards social concerns. This
institute would not only provide
opportunity to youths throughout the
country to have skills in the fashion
technology and allied fields, but also
add to the local infrastructural
substantially as Rs 60 crore would be
spent on this Institute.
The curriculum at the NIFT would allow
students to easily blend into a global
network, as well as acquire a greater
appreciation of local industry trends.
The multi-disciplinary and broad-based
structure aims at an all-round
development of students. Deriving from
the changing paradigms of industry and
commerce, its content as well as the
methodology would be constantly
reviewed by academic and industry
experts. Teaching at the Institute
would incorporate a cohesive,
contextual and nurturing environment
for learning. The emphasis would be
laid on self-motivated learning by
using information, experience and
practice.
It would emerge as the premier
Institute of Design, Management and
Technology, developing professionals
for taking up leadership positions in
fashion world in the emerging global
scenario with special reference of
hilly area costumes and requirements.
Indian civilization, customs and
tradition were the base for rare
innovation and research in fashion
technology world which was
incomparable with rest of the world.
Not only this, the Institute would
help in providing the traditional
Himachali costumes an international
platform, besides providing the youth
of the State international standard of
education. |
