CM to take matter with Centre for release of funds for Swan channelization

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh presiding over a meeting of MLAs of Chamba, Hamirpur and Una district at Shimla on 5.2.2016.

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh said he would personally take up the matter with the Prime Minister of India and Union Minister for Water Resources for early release of due funds for the remaining work on channelization of Swan river  and its tributaries in Una district. He said though Union Ministry had already earmarked the budget for this project, but the efforts would be made to get it released at the earliest so that the work on this ambitious project was completed well in time.

He was presiding over the concluding session of meeting with the MLA’s of Chamba, Hamirpur and Una districts for finalization of priorities for the next budget of the State government, here today.

He thanked all the members of the State legislative assembly for airing their demands and putting up constructive suggestions which would  not only help the State government in finalizing their priorities but would also ensure speedy and overall development of each assembly segment. He assured the members that their priorities for various development works would be given top priority and all efforts would be made to complete these works in fixed time frame to benefit the people.

Forest Minister Shri Thakur Singh Bharmouri, Industries Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri, Vice Chairman, H.P Planning Board Shri G.R Musafir and Chief Secretary Shri P. Mitra were also present in the meeting.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri I.D Lakhanpal who represents Badsar constituency demanded provision of additional funds for completion of buildings of Bijhari Tehsil Office and GSSS Tippar, Garli and Baid besides early completion of building of government college, Barsar.

He requested for filling up of vacant posts of SDO’s and Junior Engineers in I&PH and PWD departments and restoration of few local bus routes.

 

Chamba District

Smt. Asha Kumari, MLA from Banikhet raised the demand for taking back the surplus government land from NTPC which could be utilized for other income generating activities. She urged for making  policy for transfer of land for construction of Gau-Sadans as all land in the district was forest land.

She demanded to earmark dumping sites in Gram Panchayats and construction of parking at Salooni. She also urged for release of early funds for remaining work of helipad at Salooni and early completion of polytechnic building at Banikhet besides providing administrative approval to start work on 100 bedded new block at District Hospital Chamba.

MLA from Churah assembly segment Shri Hans Raj demanded improvement of roads and replacement of old electricity wires and poles. He urged for providing more facilities and deployment of specialist doctors in CHC Tissa, besides opening more Primary Health Centres to benefit the people of the far-flung areas.

Shri Vikram Singh Jaryal, MLA from Bhatiyat requested for early approval of detailed project reports of roads. He urged for upgrading Sub Tehsil Chuwari to Tehsil level and starting the work on building of Sihunta college announced by the Chief Minister recently. He demanded to upgrade PHC Samoti to CHC level and filling up of vacant posts in various departments.

 

Una District

Shri Rakesh Kalia, MLA from Chintpurni urged the Chief Minister to take up the matter with the Government of India to release funds for restarting the work on Swan River Channelization. He demanded improvement of Nangal-Mubarakpur and Ispur-Daulatpur roads. He also urged for taking up the matter with the Government of India for financial assistance for channelization of tributaries of Beas river in his constituency.

Shri Kalia also urged to provide subsidy to the farmers for fencing their fields so that the losses to the crops by wild animals could be prevented.

 

Hamipur District

Shri I.D. Dhiman from Bhoranj assembly segment raised his demand to speed up the work on channelization of Seer, Chanath and Sunehal khads which had caused major losses to the people during last two rainy seasons.

He demanded for proper repair and maintenance of village roads in his constituency.  He urged for construction of small check dams on rivulets to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers especially engaged in off season vegetable production.

Shri Narneder Thakur who represents Sujanpur constituency demanded for taking up immediate and effective steps to tackle the problem of wild animals who were causing huge losses to the crops.

He also requested for shifting of Sujanpur bus stand and repair of link roads in the constituency.

Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning Dr. Shrikant Baldi proposed the vote of thanks.
