Governor expresses gratitude to Union Government for dedicating the Project to the Nation
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has expressed gratitude to the Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh for dedicating the newly constructed double-lane bridge at Udaipur in Lahaul-Spiti district to the Nation. The bridge, built by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), marks a significant infrastructure achievement in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the BRO Headquarters in New Delhi on the occasion of the 66th Raising Day of the Border Roads Organization. Rajnath Singh graced the event as the Chief Guest. The Governor Himachal Pradesh participated in the inauguration ceremony virtually from district Bilaspur.
D-uring the ceremony, a total of 50 infrastructure projects including roads and bridges across the country were dedicated to the Nation by the Union Defence Minister. Among them was the newly constructed Bhim Setu in Udaipur, built at a cost of Rs. 4.7 crore. The construction began on February 20, 2023, and was completed on January 17, 2025.
Emphasizing upon the strategic significance of Bhim Setu, the Governor felicitated all ranks of Project Deepak and the 94 Road Construction Company for this remarkable achievement. "I convey my appreciation to the entire Project Deepak Team and Chief Engineer Rajeev Kumar and to all those involved in the completion of this project", stated the Governor.
The newly constructed bridge spans 21 meters in length and 10 meters in width, with a load capacity of 70R, significantly enhancing connectivity and transportation.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Bilaspur Rahul Kumar welcomed the Governor on the occasion.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, Superintendent of Police Rajneesh Singh, Chief Engineer of Project Deepak Rajeev Kumar and senior officials of the district administration and BRO were also present on the occasion.
