Education is basis of nations progress: Jai Ram Thakur

                      Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the annual prize distribution function of DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi on Saturday said that the education is not only subjective but is the basis of society and nation's progress.

He said the state government is committed to provide not only qualitative education, but also basic facilities in the educational institutions and to create a healthy, clean and free environment in these institutions. He said that the government is providing scholarships to encourage the meritorious and weaker sections of the society in the education sector. He called upon the students to preserve the cultural heritage of the state and to maintain high ethical and human values along-with pursuing their studies.

The Chief Minister congratulated the meritorious students on this occasion and gave away the prizes.

He also released the school's "Vision" souvenir.

School Principal K.S. Gullaria read the school's annual report.

Deputy Principal of DAV College Memorial Committee New Delhi M.L. Shekhari also expressed his views and highlighted the activities of the institute.

A cheque of Rs. 25,000 was donated to the Chief Minister towards Chief Minister Relief Fund on behalf of the school on this occasion.

The Chief Minister announced to give Rs. 51,000 to the school children who presented a colourful cultural programme.

The wife of Chief Minister Dr. Sadhna Thakur, Power Minister Anil Sharma, MLAs Col. Inder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Rakesh Jamwal, Prakash Rana and Jawahar Thakur were also present on this occasion.
