Many programmes planned for Environment week from 29th May to 5th June Waterman of India Dr. R

The State  Council for Science, Technology and Environment  will organize a variety of functions at Shimla to mark Environment Week from 29th May to 5th June, 2017. During this week special campaign will be organized on cleanliness and awareness on nature besides lectures by experts in the field of environment.

A spokesman of State Government told here today that Dr. Rajender Singh, famously called ‘Water Man of India’ would deliver a lecture to school children on 1st June, 2017 at Gaiety Theatre. There would be another lecture by the eminent environmental activist Dr. Vandana Shiva to students and teachers in the H.P.U. Auditorium on 3rd June, 2017.

He informed that during this week various activities for school and college students would be organized in order to make them aware of the environment, its abundance and limitation, emerging problems like global warming, pollution, sustainable consumption and their role towards its protection and conservation. 

He said that the Council today organized Massive Cleanliness Campaign in and around participating schools. Around 25 Schools in different locations of the Shimla city participated in the campaign. More than 300 students & teachers participated in the campaign.

The Council is also organizing Nature Visit for local schools of Shimla city. The first team of 30-35 participants will attend the nature walk on 30-05-2017. Ten schools of Chaura Maidan area will participate in the 1st Day of Nature Visit. The Nature Visits would be held everyday from 30-05-2017 to 03-06-2017.

He said that World Environment Day will be celebrated on 5th  June, 2017.
