14454 Schools covered under Bal Swasthya Karyakram

Health sector in  Himachal Pradesh is among the top priority sectors of the government and to provide qualitative health care facilities nearer to the door steps, new health centres have been opened and upgraded in remote and far-flung areas in the State. Presently there are around 2760 health institutions functioning in the State, which comprises three Zonal Hospitals, three Regional Hospitals, nine educational hospitals, 58 Civil Hospitals, one ESI Hospital, 80 Community Health Centres, 520 Primary Health Centres, 12 ESI dispensaries and 2075 Health Sub Centres.

Twenty Point Programme has  successfully been implemented in the State. The Department of Health & Family Welfare has been granted annual targets in various health components. Under Family Planning Programme, during current financial year upto 31 October, 2016,  2019 sterilization have been done besides 12340 IUD insertions, 30454 OP users and 84740 CC users are there in the State.

Under Maternal health Services Scheme, the registration of ANC cases has been recorded 70269 which is 85.38 percent. Institutional deliveries are being encouraged in the State. 45847 Institutional deliveries whereas 7366 home deliveries have been recorded upto the same period and the percentage of institutional deliveries remain nearly 86.16. Hamirpur district topped with 98.30 percent institutional deliveries whereas Chamba was quite low with only 54.43 percent.

Immunization is another important component of health care. A target of immunizing 128560 pregnent women and 108183 infants has been fixed for 2016-17 against which 62223 TT, 57976 BCG, 58474 OPV, 82 DPT and 63628 measles have been provided. Vitamin 'A' first dose has been given to 54252, fifth dose to 62853 and 9th dose to the 62005 infants. DPT booster has been given to 60396, Polio booster to 60422 and measles second dose has been given to 60424 infants thereby achieving the target of nearly 58 percent.

under Control of blindness programme, 117716 cataract operations have been done against the target of 27500. Under leprosy programme 92 cases were detected out of which 90 cured whereas 150 were under treatment and these are old cases. 28600 unit of blood was collected from donation and replacement during the above period. Total 265 Ultrasound Clinics have been registered in various districts of the State of which 86 in government and 179 in private sector and these clinics are under strict vigil of the Health Department.

 As many as 14454 schools of the State have been convered under Bal Swasthya Karyakram where 74515 students were screened for various treatments. 127 Yuva Paramarsh kendras have been set up in the State.

Under National AIDS Control Programme, 95820 blood samples were screened for HIV, out of which 298 were tested positive and 240 AIDS cases were added to this dreaded disease.

Maintaining child sex ratio in the State is another concern of the State Government. Various programmes have been implemented for its improvement. As per 2011 census, child sex ratio (0-6 yr) of the State is 909 which is not satisfactory. Galore of district Hamirpur has lowest CSR of 845 followed by Ladbharol of Mandi 850, Tiara of Kangra 875, Gangath of Kangra 877, Baldwara of Mandi 879.
