Shri Ishwar Dass
Dhiman, son of late Shri G.R. Dhiman, born at Dialri, Distt. Hamirpur on 17th
November, 1934; M.A., M.Ed. from Punjab University Chandigarh and Himachal
Pradesh University, Shimla; married; one son and two daughters; teacher,
agriculturist, political and social worker.
Remained General Secretary, Tarakwari (Bhoranj) Welfare Committee for 16 years
(1973-89); Headmaster/Principal and General Secretary Inspecting Officers'
Association, Distt. Hamirpur (1983-1987); President Headmasters'/Principals'
Association, Distt. Hamirpur (1987-89).
Joined Bhartiya Janta Party on 8 July, 1989; Member - BJP State Executive
(1990-93); State Delegate – Distt. Hamirpur, BJP (1990-92); Vice-President –
Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Morcha, BJP (1993-95) and its President
(1995-98).
Elected Member of State Legislative Assembly in 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 and
December 2007.
Chairman, Public Accounts Committee (1995-98) and March 2003 onwards and
Education Minister (Cabinet Minister) 1998-2003. |
