Condition of annual limit for award of tenders removed

The State Government has decided to remove the condition of annual limit of upto Rs 25 lakh in respect of Executive Engineer and Rs 10 lakh in respect of Assistant Engineers for award of tender for various Public works for execution to the contractors in the State. The existing powers for inviting tenders without going to press and acceptance of lowest tender for award of work by negotiation with the lowest tenderor have been revised from Rs 50,000 to Rs One lakh for Executive Engineer and from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for the Assistant Engineers.

In a statement issued here today, Thakur Gulab Singh, Public Works Minister said that this decision has been taken so as to ensure efficient execution of works and saving time. He said that it was being felt that unnecessary delay was creeping in due to the cumbersome and time consuming process regarding allocation of works.

Thakur Gulab Singh said that earlier the State Government has put up an annual limit of Rs 25 lakh for Executive Engineers and Rs 10 lakh for the assistant Engineers. He said that this was causing a lot of inconvenience to the people as once this limit was reached the Executive Engineers was not competent to award works. He said that the decision of the State Government would go a long way to expedite the process of road construction in the State.
